A bit expensive
The courses look resourceful but certifications are quite expensive. They should include an option or financial aid like Coursera.

No official transcripts are given
The course is just fine. But do not take this and expect to place out of a course for your high school. My daughter’s high school would not accept her physics course as EDX does not provide an official transcript. She is now stuck taking the same physics class over.

WARNING EdX customer service is USELESS
WARNING EdX.org EdX customer service cannot do ANYTHING they are waste of time. First red flag ? an Indian marketing company name was in my account name and would not go away called customer service it still shows up name but they said it’s not on account. How it got there? No idea ? my info personal probably stolen. Second red flag ? I passed a course I retook the test to see if I can get a higher score and certificate deleted off view my certificate (completely disappeared) called customer service it’s nothing they can do!!! I have to retake class and pay. My advice is better business bureau complaint BBB.org because at this point they just don’t need to be in business. It’s best to go directly to your college and take classes (no middle man) after I repay retake this class (I’m gonna just do the tests) then I’m “deleting & closing” my EDX account and only go directly to the college moving forward. EdX will not get another dime from me. I wish colleges would pull out if EdX & offer it at there own schools.

Assessing Community Needs for Library Managers
I'm currently enrolled in the 'Assessing Community Needs for Library Managers' course. There are several problems with this course in my opinion. First, there are technical problems with submitting some of the assignments. Formatting often gets messed up, impacting the readability of the submission. Many assignments require uploading photos. When a file browse box is provided there's no problem but that's not always the case. I've tried copying the jpg link or the photo itself and nothing works. Very frustrating.
Second, the instructor is stuck back in the early 90s. She thinks that everyone should organize their thoughts with sticky notes and flip chart paper! Omg, that outdated notion is circa 1990s when I first encountered it in conferences and workshops. So if you're into sticky notes, fine, otherwise you've been given fair warning.
Third, some of the assignments depend upon a certain number of peers assessing your work. Usually that's no problem. In this course, it's been a huge problem. I've had to appeal to Edx support on more than one occasion to help out and it looks like I'll have to for the final report as well. Submitted it days ago, and still don't have a final grade waiting for more assessments.

Low quality courses with errors
EdX used to be a nonprofit education company started by Harvard and MIT, and deserved it's great reputation. Things have gone downhill since it was bought by 2U for $800 million and it only cares about profit now.
Waste of time
My second day in and I'm totally lost and there doesn't seen to be any help for me. I was told this course is suitable for people like me who have little to no knowledge of coding and that was far from the truth, I was told I needed a specifific laptop with specifications needed for the course so I invested in a new lap top and now I just want to throw it up the wall. I'm seriously angry and feel stupid. The teachers seem like they have very little experience, they mumble and talk in jargon, I'm not the only one on the course feeling this way either.

ColumbiaX DS101X: Statistical Thinking for Data Science and Analytics
In the strongest possible terms, I urge you not to take ColumbiaX DS101X: Statistical Thinking for Data Science and Analytics.
You can learn this material 10x faster, for free, and more easily elsewhere.
Case in point: the professor's 6 minute video introducing Bayes' formula. You'll spend twice that long trying to make sense of her abysmal pronunciation and grammar. Even the videos' transcriptionist is often at a loss throughout this course. This isn't the professor's fault, but she has no business teaching in English. At the end of her example, she included a lazy and misleading diagram.
I could have learned everything in that video in 1 minute on Google.
EdX offering this course is a disservice to their students.
No content and no instructor
I completed edX's Online Teaching and Learning Strategies course. It was awful and I learned nothing.
The course content is little to nothing. Many pages were bullet points of best-practices with no explanation or extension.
The course format was the same throughout all 9 modules: Introduction - instructor 30 sec video (which she read from a folded piece of paper) - discussion - summary.
It was a waste of time and money.

Best however it can be better then best
EdX is one of the tremendous digital platforms which gives access to the world's top management institutes. I have completed "AESTHINT15: Rhetoric: The Art of Persuasive Writing and Public Speaking." which helps me personally and professionally. the however very theoretical process in the digital world more reform like videos and infographics way.

The concept is amazing
The concept is amazing, but the courses are boring and unimaginative. Like 90%of the courses on there are parts business programmes. It would be nice to see a lot more traditional subjects on there. It's as if they think that learning is all about optimising profits for whatever company you work for and no other knowledge matters. In a sense it is kind of tragic to see what edX has become.
Use free YouTube videos instead
If you are doing the Harvard Computer Science courses like CS50 because you want to learn how to code - they are useless.
You can get more in 15 minute YouTube videos than these courses
EDX itself emails me all the time and has no way to review courses. I wonder how many bad reviews the courses would have if these were visible like every other modern website. If you go on YouTube, you'll see everyone's comments, how many likes it has, how many views it has

I was already interested!
EdX looked like a great option to further my education, but now I'll never know...
Upon looking into it and trying to find classes, I got BOMBARDED with upwards of 5-10 emails a day! The amount of spam was staggering! I would love to look into it more and would be happy to pay for their services, but their AGGRESSIVE add marketing campaigns are too overwhelming. I can't decipher the junk from the important details. EdX! Please fix this!

Good content - poor customer service
In general, I am very content with the quality and structure of the courses. Two weeks ago, I have been offered a refund so I can switch to another course (within the same professional certificate path), however have not heard anything back since then. I have responded twice to accept the offer and for further instructions, but have been ignored. This is a very poor customer service, and I would never have expected that from an institution like edX.
Actual trash.
Actual trash.
They claim their concept is free education, with an added option to pay in case you want a diploma, but some of the courses straight up only offer you a THIRD of the course before asking you to pay to see the rest. Its a disgusting bait and switch one wouldn't expect from an enterprise touting about its ties to actual universities. Avoid at all costs.
Also, the customer service is - as many have said - garbage.

Great + free video courses!
I enjoyed more than 5 courses on Edx. They were all quite informative and the length always right (not too long!). I only suffered some problems with communication: I never received answers to my email question?
